Description
The story of Partida Creus begins like so many others, with a move and an intuition. Massimo and Antonella, Italian architects, arrived in the Baix Penedès looking for a simpler life, but what they found was a semi-abandoned vineyard and a vocation they didn't know they had: to recover almost forgotten native grapes and restore the soul to a landscape that screamed tradition. Without manuals or formulas, and with absolute respect for the land, they began to work organically and without additives. This is how Partida Creus Ancestral Anonymous was born, a wine that follows no recipe other than intuition and coherence with the environment.
Its composition includes Xarel.lo, Parellada, Macabeu and a touch of Tempranillo, in percentages that vary slightly each year depending on the expression of the vintage. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea, which gives freshness, salinity and a vibrant tension to each cluster. The microclimate of the Baix Penedès, with sea breezes and good sun exposure, allows for a slow ripening process that favours aromatic expression and natural acidity.
Winemaking
There is no artifice. The grapes are trodden with the feet, as before, without destemming. Maceration varies according to the variety: about 24 hours for Parellada and Xarel.lo; 4 or 5 days for Tempranillo. Fermentation begins spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and is bottled before it is finished, so that it is the action of the yeasts themselves that generates the bubbles in the bottle. No filtering, fining or sulphites. The wine rests for 12 months on its lees before being released into the world.
Taste
Partida Creus Anonymous Ancestral is pure energy: a fine bubble that caresses the palate, a colour reminiscent of ripe apricot and a nose full of dried flowers, candied citrus and a slight herbal touch. On the palate it is direct, refreshing, with that lively acidity that makes you salivate and a slightly saline background that speaks of the nearby sea. It has that sparkle that only lively wines can offer: unpredictable, wild and delicious.
