Description
Few wines have the pulse of the land as much as this one. Partida Creus Blanc de Sumoll was born from the almost poetic endeavour of Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa, two Italian architects who abandoned their urban life in search of a purer connection with nature. They found it in the Baix Penedès, among calcareous soils and sea breezes, where they began to rescue forgotten vines and almost extinct varieties such as Sumoll Blanco, a genetic rarity that barely survived in lost corners of Catalonia.
Partida Creus does not grow grapes, it grows memories. Its vineyards in the Bonastre Massif, worked according to organic principles and without any chemical intervention, are the reflection of an honest and radical philosophy: to let the grape express itself without any make-up. In this Mediterranean microcosm, the sun gently caresses the bunches of grapes and the wind regulates their ripening, imparting character, freshness and salinity.
Partida Creus Blanc de Sumoll is made from 100% Sumoll Blanc, a natural mutation of the Sumoll grape variety, and is produced in very small quantities. There are no prefabricated formulas or additives here, only an iron will to respect the fruit as it comes from the field.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, respectfully, and fermentation is carried out spontaneously, with indigenous yeasts, without filtering or clarification, and without the addition of sulphur. The must is pressed directly, preserving its freshness and varietal transparency, and rests for about three months in stainless steel tanks on its fine lees. The result is a lively, energetic, constantly evolving wine.
Taste
Partida Creus Blanc de Sumoll is disconcerting and seductive: an explosion of citrus peel, wild flowers and a background of Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary and thyme. The palate is sharp, with a vibrant acidity reminiscent of grapefruit and kumquat, wrapped in a slightly tannic texture and a dry, saline, persistent finish.
