Description
Mengoba Las Botas is a white wine made from the Godello grape by Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba in Bierzo and without denomination of origin in Castilla y León, Spain.
The grapes used in this wine come from small Godello plots with an average age of approximately 70 years located in the municipalities of Carracedo, Espanillo, Valtuille and Villafranca in El Bierzo.
The soil composition is clay-limestone, with rocky and slate soils.
Elaboration
Harvesting is done by hand, selecting the grapes in the vineyard, then on arrival at the winery and once the grapes have been destemmed and crushed, a pre-fermentation maceration is carried out.
Subsequently, they are poured into two butts that were manzanilla over 150 years old, where the wine ferments with indigenous yeasts.
The wine is aged for 10 months on its fine lees in the same butts that were previously used to make manzanilla. Before bottling, the wine is stabilised, clarified and lightly filtered.
Taste
Mengoba Las Botas is a wine with aromatic and gustatory complexity with fruity and floral aromas. In the mouth it is ripe, unctuous, almondy, with high acidity, dry and tasty.
