Description
Mengoba Mencía de Espanillo is a red wine made from 90% Mencía, 10% Garnacha tintorera and Godello by Bodegas y viñedos Mengoba in D.O. Bierzo (Castilla y León, Spain).
The Mencia grapes are grown in plots with an average age of 80 years located in Espanillo at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level. The soil composition is decomposed slate with sandy areas and is worked with ploughs pulled by cows.
Elaboration
The grapes are harvested by hand. When the selected grapes arrive at the winery, they are destemmed and crushed. Then it goes directly to 2500 litre foudres where it undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. The ageing process takes 11 months in French oak barrels. After a light clarification and without filtering, the wine is bottled.
Taste
It is a wine with fruity and herbal aromas. In the mouth it is intense, with adequate acidity, it is also velvety, with depth, elegant, tasty, long and persistent.
A deep and complex wine
Mengoba Mencía de Espanillo is a red wine made by Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba with a great contribution of the charming and peculiar Mencía variety and a very small contribution of Garnacha tintorera and some Godello.
This red wine is tremendously aromatic and is a beautiful tribute to the personality and character of these varieties.
It is perfect to enjoy in a pleasant way at romantic dinners and to accompany grilled, barbecued or stewed red meats.
