Description
From the heights of Ambonnay, the beating heart of the Champagne Grand Cru, Benoît Marguet produces his Marguet Shaman Rosé Grand Cru with a philosophy radically linked to the land. A visionary, a convinced biodynamic and almost mystical in his relationship with nature, Marguet decided to dispense with the tractor and let horses work the vineyard. He grows his own plants to make biodynamic preparations and follows the lunar cycles with rigorous devotion. His approach to wine takes no shortcuts: minimum intervention, maximum energy. This is how this rosé is born: pure, committed, honest. The blend is composed of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Ambonnay and Bouzy, two villages with chalky soils and a cool climate, where the fruit reaches a tense, vibrant, never complacent expression.
Winemaking
The vinification of Marguet Shaman Rosé Grand Cru follows the principles of minimal intervention. Fermentation, both alcoholic and malolactic, takes place in neutral oak barrels, without the addition of commercial yeasts or artificial corrections. The wine is then racked into enamelled steel tanks before being bottled for secondary fermentation. Ageing on the lees in the bottle lasts over 54 months, without early disgorgement, which adds complexity, creaminess and depth without losing freshness. The dosage is minimal (3 g/l), allowing the character of the terroir to express itself without make-up.
Taste
On the nose, Marguet Shaman Rosé Grand Cru bursts with notes of wild strawberry, sour cherry and fresh raspberry, wrapped in citrus aromas of pink grapefruit and candied orange peel. Then nuances of toasted bread, raw almond and a saline, almost smoky minerality reminiscent of wet granite appear. Marguet Shaman Rosé Grand Cru is direct and incisive on the palate, with fine, perfectly integrated bubbles. The acidity is lively but elegant, supporting flavours of ripe red fruit, dried rose petals and a citrus tension that sweeps across the palate with surgical precision. The finish is long, dry, with hints of cracker, lemon zest and a mineral persistence that cleanses, lifts and makes you salivate. A raw, essential rosé that dialogues with those who know how to listen.
