Frontonio Supersónico Garnacha 2023
23.84₣ (Exc. VAT bot. 75 cl.) / Switzerland
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The red 2023 Supersónico comes from a single vineyard at 1,000 meters in altitude, planted with Garnacha and around 5% Macabeo, which fermented together with 100% full clusters and matured in foudres and oak casks. It has a bright ruby color and a perfumed nose that is floral and spicy, more reductive than oxidative, subtle and elegant. It has finesse—finer than Elástico—purity of flavors, some bright red berry fruit, very fine tannins and very good freshness, reflecting the higher altitude. It has energy and light. This is really good and overdelivers for the price. 9,754 bottles and 30 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2025.

Description
Frontonio Supersónico is a red wine that embodies tradition and respect for the natural environment. It is made mainly from Garnacha Tinta ( 93%) and a small percentage of Macabeo (7%), sourced from vineyards located at an altitude of 1,030 metres in the Valdejalón region of Aragón. These vineyards, over 80 years old, are sustainably farmed on slate and sandy soils, with a 15% north-facing slope.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand in October and transported in small 18 kg boxes to preserve their integrity. Vinification includes fermentation with indigenous yeasts and a prolonged maceration of 43 to 50 days. The wine is then aged for 12 months in 2,500-litre oak foudres and 500-litre used barrels. Production is limited, with approximately 8,500 bottles per year, reflecting its artisanal character.
Taste
Frontonio Supersónico stands out for its fresh and energetic profile, combining elegance and vitality. In the glass, it has a bright cherry red colour with violet reflections. On the nose, it is a very aromatic wine, with a rich combination of red fruits such as redcurrants and ripe cherries, together with floral notes of violets and Mediterranean herbs such as thyme and laurel. On the palate, it offers a balanced structure with refined tannins and a vibrant acidity that gives it great freshness. Despite its lightness, it is a persistent wine, with a long and subtly mineral finish. The combination of its freshness and complexity makes it an ideal choice to accompany grilled meats, spicy stews or baked dishes with aromatic herbs. This wine has excellent ageing potential, which will allow its elegance and structure to evolve favourably over time.
