Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2024 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese is precise and coolish on the bright, elegant and savory/saline nose that reveals citrus fruit and floral aromas along with notes of finely weathered slate and delicate phenols. Lush and generous but filigreed and saline at the same time, this is an airy but tensioned, seriously long, never rich or textured but filigreed and highly finessed Auslese with great class and style. This Juffer-Sonnenuhr Auslese frm Brauneberg can compete with the finest ones from the Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Highly recommended. A gold-capsuled botrytized Auslese was produced as well and sails under the AP number 09 25, whereas this regular Auslese is AP 06 25. It has 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in March 2026.

Description
Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese is characterised by fine, delicate fruit, which is presented in a complex and purist manner. It is made with precision and passion, resulting in a wine that perfectly combines winemaking tradition with modern techniques.
Vineyard
The Juffer Sonnenuhr plot is the heart of all Brauneberg winegrowing locations. Its purely southern exposure, with a slope of up to 73%, is planted exclusively with Riesling vines. This layout, together with the proximity of the Moselle River and the steep rocks above Juffer Sonnenuhr, creates a unique and very sheltered microclimate. The soil, a deep, fine shale decomposition with a high stone content of 75%, retains heat optimally. This interaction between the soil, the Moselle River and the mild microclimate is the basis for the production of fine, delicate and fruity Rieslings.
Taste
The taste of this Riesling Auslese is a true sensory experience. It stands out for its fresh shale notes and its moderate alcohol content. On the palate, juicy flavours of exotic fruits such as mango, quince and papaya are complemented by an elegant interplay between sweetness and acidity. This combination gives the wine great potential.
