Description

Frank Cornelissen Munjebel Monte Colla (MunJebel Rosso MC) Monte Colla is a wine that comes from the cru on the Monte Colla plot. This extremely steep and terraced vineyard is beautifully exposed to the sun and wind, right in front of Mount Etna. The sandy clay soil and ancient Nerello Mascalese, planted in 1946, produces a rich and powerful wine, while maintaining grace and elegance. It is considered the "Hermitage" of Etna.

Winemaking

The grapes are destemmed and gently crushed on reception at the winery. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts, with 50 days of maceration, takes place in 1,500 and 2,500 litre neutral epoxy tanks. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to new tanks where malolactic fermentation and ageing begins for 18 months. Finally, it is left to mature in the bottle for a further 18 months.
No fining is carried out and light filtration takes place before bottling. Depending on the vintage and stability of the wine, sulphur values can vary from 15 to 50 mg/l. Annual production is approximately 2,500 bottles.

Taste

Frank Cornelissen Munjebel Monte Colla stands out for its wild smoky aromas, with nuances of game meat and pepper, accompanied by hints of green herbs and vegetables. Undoubtedly, it evokes Syrah-like vibes. It successfully captures the essence of concentrated dark fruits in a well-integrated environment.
