Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Albariño 2024 El Jardín de Lucía was produced by Zarate with grapes from different villages in Salnés, Meaño and Meis. It's pale and young and has a clean and expressive nose that mixes white flowers and fruit, fresh and elegant. It has contained ripeness and 12.5% alcohol, gentle, with clean and focused flavors, a long dry finish and the granularity from the granite soils.

Description
El Jardín de Lucía springs from the heart of Val do Salnés, an Albariño born from the joint desire of Uvas Felices and winemaker Eulogio Pomares Zárate. The idea arose over a table at which several winemakers dreamt of a project that would capture the most authentic spirit of their Atlantic vineyards. A bold decision: to unite smallholdings in Cambados, Ribadumia, Meaño and Meis to create a wine that would show the essence of the granite, the humid air and the salty breath of the Atlantic. It was a brave gamble: many voices speaking with a single voice, that of a pure Albariño, born in vines between 15 and 25 years old, located barely 50 metres above the sea, on calcareous-sandy soils that breathe Galician history and Rías Baixas tradition.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand in the first days of September, carefully deposited in 16 kg boxes to preserve their integrity. In the winery, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, essential to maintain varietal freshness and capture the most genuine aromatic profile. It is left to rest on its lees for four months, a delicate ageing process that confers texture, complexity and that unctuous sensation that envelops the palate. After this respectful ageing, it is bottled to preserve intact its fresh and vibrant Atlantic essence.
Taste
Bright straw-coloured with greenish reflections, clean and luminous like a sunset on the estuary. On the nose, El Jardín de Lucía seduces with intense aromas of green apple, pear, ripe peach and pineapple, with hints of boxwood, white flowers and an evanescent aniseed touch that awakens the senses. In other descriptions, evocations of banana or citrus leaf appear, as well as an exuberant, floral freshness that completes the aromatic cut.
On the palate, El Jardin de Lucia offers a delicate, delicate entry, with a fresh, direct and vibrant attack. The texture is silky, unctuous, but restrained and balanced. Light citrus fruits, faint peach, white flowers and a vibrant acidity that cleanses and clears the palate, like a salty breeze that penetrates the tongue. The finish is dry, long, marked by salinity and a graininess that speaks of the granite beneath the vineyard.
Jardín de Lucía is a wine of simple words and Atlantic air: vibrant without shouting, elegant without posturing; pure, made with truth, with the mineral and saline wink that refers to that Galician coast where its grapes are born. Ideal with seafood, sushi, creamy rice dishes, tender goat's cheesethatdialogues withfreshness and roundness.
