Description
Domaine Rolet Arbois Poulsard Vieilles Vignes comes from the Jura wine regions. This wine is made from the Poulsard variety, a grape indigenous to the region. The vines from which these grapes come are planted in Montigny-les-Arsures, specifically in the "Chagnon" and "Gaillard" plots, located at the bottom of the slopes. These soils are composed of clayey silts that cover the lees marls, which makes them ideal for the Poulsard variety.
Winemaking
After careful harvesting and manual selection, the grapes are macerated and fermented with indigenous yeasts for 15 days in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in tanks for 12 months before bottling.
Taste
Domaine Rolet Arbois Poulsard Vieilles Vignes is characterised by its pale colour, due to the thin skin of the Poulsard variety. The nose offers aromas of wild strawberry coulis, grapefruit juice and grenadine with a spicy touch. The palate is light, with crisp acidity and low tannins, although the alcohol content is somewhat generous. It is best served chilled to fully enjoy its expressive notes of wild strawberry coulis, blueberry and black pepper.
This wine, besides being a delight on its own, is perfect for pairing with smoked charcuterie or pike quenelle. Its ageing potential is 5 to 10 years, which means it can be enjoyed immediately or kept for special occasions in the future.
