Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Ceretto 2022 Barolo Brunate, a certified organic wine, shows a perfumed quality with lavender and pressed violet that feel fleeting at first before unveiling deeper tones of raspberry, wild cherry and cinnamon. Sourced from one of La Morra's benchmark MGAs, where Tortonian Sant'Agata Fossil Marls shape wines of depth and power, the Nebbiolo is aged for one year in 300-liter French oak barrels followed by two years in larger French oak casks and an additional year in bottle before release. The 2022 vintage brings added richness and concentration with sweet layers of cherry fruit across the mid-palate, while dusty tannins lend structure and should integrate fully with time.

Description
The wine Ceretto Barolo Brunate is a symbol of the cultural tradition of Piedmont and therefore enjoys an undisputed worldwide fame.
Winemaking
This Barolo is produced in the territory of the municipality of La Morra, both for the cultivation of the vine and for the production of wine. It is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, reaching an alcohol content of 14.50%. The Brunate vineyard is one of the most representative of the municipality of La Morra and has always been considered one of the reference toponyms for the whole denomination. It is an inter-municipal vineyard covering a total of 28 hectares. The soils, belonging to the Tortonian period, are characterised by the presence of sandy loams, especially in the highest part of the hill. The Ceretto family owns just over 5.5 hectares in Brunate, which it uses exclusively for the production of this exceptional wine. The wine is aged in 300-litre French oak (with 10% new oak) for 12 months, followed by 24 months in Austrian oak barrels.
Taste
Ceretto Barolo Brunate has a garnet colour with broad, deep orange reflections. Its aroma is intense, with notes of violet, small red fruits and balsamic hints. On the palate, it is intense, elegant and persistent, with flavours of red fruits, tobacco and liquorice. With ageing, its flavour improves, adding aromas of truffle and cinnamon. It is a wine of great character, ideal to accompany roasted meats, stewed game and truffle and mushroom dishes.
