Description
Bérêche Rive Gauche is a unique expression of Champagne from the house of Bérêche & Fils. This wine stands out for its meticulous winemaking and the choice of grapes, which reflect the essence and tradition of the region.
With an area of 0.45 ha, which indicates a selective and concentrated cultivation. The vines, with an average age of 52 years, are located at an altitude of 200 m, on slopes varying between 15 and 35%, specifically on "La côte aux Châtaigniers". The terroir is located in the Vallée de la Marne Rive Gauche, in the "Maisoncelle" and "Côte aux ChataÎgniers" plots. The soil is deep, composed of clay and sand with a chalky texture.
Winemaking
Made from 100% Meunier, this champagne is characterised by a slow fermentation in oak barrels, followed by ageing on the lees. Subsequently, it spends more than 36 months in the cellar in rhymes, and the sparkling is made with a natural cork stopper. Bottled with a final dosage of 3 g/L (Extra Brut).
Flavour
Bérêche Rive Gauche has been praised by renowned critics. Robert Parker's William Kelley describes the champagne as offering aromas of waxed citrus, pear, white flowers, fresh pastries and toasted almonds. It is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and incisive, with sharp acids and a penetrating, saline finish. Bernard Burtschy highlights its slightly straw colour and aromas that attest to the ripeness of the fruit with hints of plum and a woody touch that gives it a special charm. On the palate, it is full and deep, delicious and accessible.
