Description
Barranco Oscuro Cardonohay is a true oenological gem from the region of La Contraviesa in Granada, Spain. Produced by the Barranco Oscuro winery, this white wine is made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape variety. The vineyards where the grapes come from are located at an impressive altitude, between 1280 and 1368 metres above sea level, in poor, stony soils composed mainly of slate and clay.
Winemaking
Barranco Oscuro Cardonohay is made by direct pressing of the destemmed grapes and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, without temperature control, taking advantage of the natural freshness of the winery. Subsequently, the wine is aged for approximately one year in used oak barrels. All this process is carried out without the addition of any chemical products, maintaining an ecological vinification , although not certified.
Taste
Barranco Oscuro Cardonohay is distinguished by its unique flavour profile that defies the usual expectations of a Chardonnay. On the nose, there are intense mineral notes and a fino-like quality derived from its ageing on lees. The taste is a vibrant and complex combination, dominated by slightly unripe yellow apples that bring freshness to the palate. Its texture is creamy and dense, with hints of ripe white fruit and light citrus touches that make it juicy and pleasant. The limited production of 1000 bottles per hectare reflects the dedication and care with which this wine is made, guaranteeing a unique experience for those who taste it.
