Description
Since 1626, the Trimbach family has been cultivating wines in the heart of Alsace with a philosophy based on purity, precision and authentic expression of the terroir. Trimbach Alsace Sylvaner was born from the desire to preserve a grape historically rooted in the region but often underestimated. In an almost counter-current act, Trimbach decided to recover old Sylvaner vineyards planted on well-drained limestone soils, proving that this variety can offer much more than just freshness. Grown with respect for the natural balance of the vineyard, without artifice or excess, this wine is a statement of humility and loyalty to the land.
Alsace, with its cool continental climate, cool nights and generous sun exposure, allows for slow and precise ripening. The Sylvaner benefits particularly from clay-limestone soils that give it tension and an elegant mineral profile.
Winemaking
The grapes for the Trimbach Alsace Sylvaner are harvested by hand to preserve their integrity. After gentle pressing, the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. No oak or malolactic fermentation is used, allowing the natural acidity and primary aromas to be preserved. A brief ageing on fine lees adds some body and complexity, without losing freshness. Trimbach Alsace Sylvaner is bottled young, seeking to capture its most vibrant and sincere character.
Taste
Pale yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, Trimbach Alsace Sylvaner is discreet but crisp: green apple, fresh pear, a faint citrus trace (lime, lemon), and a mineral hint reminiscent of wet stone. Nothing exuberant, all in the key of subtlety and cleanliness. On the palate, Trimbach Alsace Sylvaner is dry and vibrant, with an incisive but integrated acidity. The finish is clean, refreshing, saline, with a touch of herbaceousness and a minerality that adds tension. It is a straightforward, honest, no make-up wine: ideal for seafood, white fish and light dishes where its precision and freshness can shine through.
