Description

Since 1626, the Trimbach family has been cultivating vines in the heart of Alsace with an unwavering vision: to make dry, precise and long-lived wines. Jean Trimbach, a key figure in the winery's revival in the 19th century, challenged the trend towards sweet wines that dominated the region, opting for a more austere and mineral interpretation of the terroir. Trimbach Gewürztraminer reflects that philosophy: no excesses, just varietal purity and balance. The grapes come from well-exposed slopes in the foothills of the Vosges, on fossil soils of marl, dolomite and limestone with marine shells from the Triassic and Jurassic. A unique terroir that imprints character, salinity and structure. Here, the natural exuberance of the variety is tamed with surgical precision.

Winemaking

The grapes for Trimbach Alsace Gewürztraminer are harvested at optimum ripeness, seeking a delicate balance between aroma and freshness. After gentle pressing in a pneumatic press, the must ferments slowly in stainless steel and concrete tanks at a controlled temperature. There is no malolactic fermentation or prolonged ageing on lees, in order to preserve the acidity and clean profile of the wine. It is bottled in the spring and aged for at least two years in the cellar before release. The result is a dry, elegant Trimbach Alsace Gewürztraminer with a profoundly Alsatian identity.

Taste

On the nose, Trimbach Alsace Gewürztraminer opens with restrained intensity: dried rose, ripe lychee, grapefruit zest and a subtle spicy touch of ginger and clove. No sweetness, but aromatic depth and freshness. The palate is dry, medium-bodied, with a firm texture and perfectly integrated acidity. Notes of white fruit, mild spices and a mineral background that lengthens the finish. Its persistence is remarkable, without saturating the palate. Trimbach Alsace Gewürztraminer is designed for those who value precision over ornamentation, ideal to accompany spicy cuisine, soft cheeses such as Munster or even a well-seasoned steak tartare. A modern classic, direct and without artifice.
