Winemaking

Fermented with indigenous yeasts in 500 and 600 litre barrels. Aged for 20 months in oak casks. Bottled unfined, unfiltered and with no added sulphites.

Description

Strohmeier TLZ Rot is an authentic expression of the terroir of Bad Gams, a wine region characterised by its gneiss soil with a high iron and silicon content. This wine stands out for being made from 100% Zweigelt, a grape variety that gives it unique and distinctive characteristics.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected directly in the vineyard, thus guaranteeing the quality and purity of each cluster. Once harvested, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation for 4 weeks, a process that enhances their natural flavours and aromas. After this period, the wine is gently pressed and then aged for 24 months in neutral toast barrels, using 225-litre, 500-litre and 300-litre barrels that have been previously used. Strohmeier TLZ Rot is bottled unfiltered, unclarified and without the addition of sulphur, making it a natural and genuine wine.

Taste

Strohmeier TLZ Rot is an electric and timeless experience. This wine overflows with energy, offering a beautiful mouthfeel and a wild fruit flavour that seems to go on forever. Its potential is undeniable and promises to evolve beautifully over time. At first, there may be a slight hint of sulphur, but this nuance quickly disappears, giving way to notes of dark fruits such as black cherry and blackberry. Its texture is wonderful, accompanied by a balanced acidity. Despite being slightly tannic, it is an easy-drinking wine that invites to repeat.
