Description
Reyneke Organic Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot is a wine that stands out for its balanced blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. These grapes are carefully selected from the best organic vineyards throughout the Western Cape, with a third of them coming directly from the Reyneke estate.
Winemaking
Once harvested, the grapes are sorted and destemmed. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks and stainless steel fermenters. Subsequently, 35% of the wine is aged for 10 months in used oak barrels and foudres. After this process, the wine is blended and finally bottled, resulting in a wine of exceptional quality.
Taste
This wine surprises with its aroma, in which notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry can be distinguished, complemented with hints of cedar and spices. On tasting, black fruits, cherries, spices and liquorice unfold, making each sip a unique experience. It is a well-balanced and structured wine, with sweet and juicy tannins, but with a dry finish. Despite its smoothness and accessibility at present, this wine has the potential to age.
