Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Brut Vintage, with a dosage of seven grams per liter, exhibits a delicate bouquet of ripe orchard fruits, pineapple, peach, sweet spices and pastry, followed by a full-bodied, rich and elegantly creamy mid-palate that segues into a fleshy core of fruit with a penetrating, long and saline finish. Admirers of Pol Roger’s style will love it.

Description
In the heart of Épernay, the maison Pol Roger embodies a quiet elegance, refined over more than 170 years of history. Founded in 1849 and still run by family descendants, this winery has cultivated its own style based on purity, balance and longevity. Pol Roger Brut Vintage is made exclusively from 20 selected crus -Grands and Premiers- from the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, with a classic house blend: 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay.
Winemaking
Every detail of the vinification process of Pol Roger Brut Vintage is designed to preserve the identity of the terroir. After pressing, the must undergoes two stages of clarification: an initial stage and another cold clarification at 6°C for 24 hours. Fermentation is carried out slowly in stainless steel tanks at less than 18°C, with each variety and plot being kept separate. The wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation before blending. The second fermentation in the bottle takes place in the deep cellars of Pol Roger, 33 metres underground. There, Pol Roger Brut Vintage rests for a minimum of 7 years on the lees, developing finesse and complexity before disgorgement. In the expedition, a moderate dosage of 7 g/L is added, which balances the wine's natural vivacity without masking its purity. Manual stirring - a rarity nowadays - provides an exceptionally delicate mousse.
Taste
Visually, Pol Roger Brut Vintage is a bright pale yellow with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose opens slowly: notes of white fruits, fresh pineapple, peach, followed by delicate aromas of butter, brioche and pastry cream. On the palate, it displays breadth and volume, supported by a vibrant acidity that balances its creamy texture. Citrus notes of candied lemon and grapefruit mingle with a slightly saline background, adding tension and freshness. A serious, structured vintage Champagne with enormous ageing potential. The most refined expression of a generous vintage, faithful to the sober and precise style of Pol Roger Brut Vintage.
