Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2018 Brut Rosé opens to a superb bouquet revealing scents of plums, red berries, pastry, almond, mandarin orange and lemon oil complemented by classy autolytic notes. On the palate, this remarkable rosé has a tauter and more fine-boned texture than usual, which is enhanced by bright acids and a chalky, saline finish. It requires patience to realize all its potential.

Description
From its deep, cool cellars in Épernay, dug 33 metres underground, the maison Pol Roger shapes champagnes that embody elegance, rigour and a deep respect for tradition. True to its philosophy, the house does not make rosés without a vintage, reserving this cuvée only for exceptional vintages, a decision that reflects its commitment to authenticity and excellence.
Pol Roger Brut Rosé is composed of 50% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay, sourced from a rigorous selection of crus from the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. To achieve its delicate tone and aromatic structure, 15% red vinified Pinot Noir is added from historic vineyards in Bouzy, Ambonnay and Cumières, emblematic areas for the intensity and elegance of the Pinot.
Winemaking
The production process for Pol Roger Brut Rosé begins with a double clarification of the must, including a cold stabilisation at 6°C to enhance aromatic purity. Fermentation is carried out slowly in stainless steel tanks, separately according to variety and origin, at controlled temperatures below 18 °C. After a complete malolactic fermentation, the wine is bottled for its second fermentation and subsequent prolonged ageing on lees for at least 4 years in Pol Roger' s underground galleries, with an approximate dosage of 8 g/l which provides balance without compromising its dry character. There, the manual stirring, increasingly rare in Champagne, contributes decisively to the finesse of the bubbles and the silky character of the wine.
Taste
In the glass, Pol Roger Brut Rosé presents itself with a pale salmon hue and bright pink reflections, accompanied by an extremely fine and persistent bubble. The first aromatic impact is reminiscent of a basket of fresh red fruits - raspberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, cassis - with exotic hints of mango and papaya. As it oxygenates, floral notes emerge, such as rose and honeysuckle. The palate is enveloping, precise and vibrant: ripe fruit is balanced by firm acidity and a mineral trace that sustains its freshness. The finish is long, saline and elegantly juicy.
Versatile and refined, Pol Roger Brut Rosé goes well with grilled salmon, sushi or red fruit desserts. A rosé Champagne that speaks with precision, tension and serene beauty.
