Description

Pascal Doquet is a leading producer in the Champagne region, committed to organic and biodynamic practices. His cuvée Le Mesnil Sur Oger Grand Cru Extra Brut is composed of 100% Chardonnay, which classifies it as a Blanc de Blancs. This wine comes from the Grand Cru vineyard of Le Mesnil Sur Oger, located in the Côte des Blancs, one of the most prestigious areas of Champagne. The soils of this vineyard are mainly chalky (limestone), known for bringing great minerality and freshness to the wines.
The vineyard includes some vines planted in 1929, which adds an extra layer of complexity to the wine. Pascal Doquet has adopted environmentally friendly viticulture since 2004 and obtained organic certification in 2010.

Winemaking

The vinification process follows traditional and natural methods. The must is gently pressed and fermentation takes place in neutral oak barrels, which helps to preserve the original characteristics of the fruit without adding too much oak influence. Ageing on the lees lasts for a minimum of 10 years, which allows the wine to develop great complexity and aromatic depth. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to soften the natural acidity of the Chardonnay and add more texture on the palate. The dosage is very low, 3.5g/L, classifying it as an Extra Brut, which highlights the purity of the terroir and its marked minerality.

Taste

On the palate, Pascal Doquet Le Mesnil Sur Oger stands out for its freshness and minerality, characteristics of the region's chalky soil. Citrus and tree fruit flavours intertwine with more complex notes of iodine, ginger and anise, creating a rich and balanced aromatic profile. The finish is long, with a vibrant tension that brings elegance and lingering harmony, ideal with seafood or fresh cheeses.
