Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The smoky and leesy 2019 Marko Gure Arbasoak has a spectacular nose and a bright yellow color. It's a blend of 45% Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia (Petit Courbu), 40% Hondarribi Zuri (Gros Courbu) and 15% Izkiota Txikia (Petit Manseng) that fermented in 30% stainless steel and 70% used barriques with indigenous yeasts and matured for seven months with the lees. Again, this is more about the soil, herbs, plants and spices than fruit and has a profile that reminds me of some ouillé wines from Jura. It has tension and minerality, very tasty flavors and a long, clean finis with an almost salty touch. This is stunning and should age nicely in bottle.12,000 bottles were filled in June 2020.
