Description
A breeze of tradition and audacity guides the story of Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuissé Petites Pierres. Located in the small commune of Fuissé, in the heart of the Mâconnais, this wine was born from Louis Jadot 's desire to capture the essence of the Jurassic clay-limestone soils that define this southern sub-zone of Burgundy. Along steep slopes between 250 and 350 metres above sea level, the vineyards sit on small amphitheatres facing east and southeast, where the Chardonnay vines mature slowly, gaining tension and depth. "Petites Pierres" - small stones - alludes not only to the visible geology of the terroir, but also to the philosophy of this wine: a sum of tiny, precise details that build an elegant, mineral profile. Louis Jadot took the unusual decision in the region to combine selected plots that do not seek grandiloquence, but harmony. The result is a white that exudes identity, respect for its origins and a clear desire for purity.
Winemaking
Vinification follows a classic and rigorous line. The grapes are harvested by hand, gently pressed and fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels from the maison's own cooperage. Ageing takes between 8 and 10 months, in a measured mix of wood and steel, in order to preserve the freshness of the Chardonnay without sacrificing an enveloping texture. This balance between tradition and technical precision defines the final character of the wine.
Taste
On the nose, Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuissé Petites Pierres reveals notes of lemon, pink grapefruit and toasted almond, over a background of white fruit and a subtle mineral trace. The palate is direct, with firm acidity supporting citrus flavours, fresh butter and a delicate saline note. The texture is smooth, almost creamy, but never heavy. The finish, long and clean, leaves an impression of wet stone and white flowers. A sober, refined and versatile wine, perfect for seafood, vegetable dishes or Asian cuisine.
