Description
The red wine Le Coste Rosso de Coccio is an exquisite creation of the Le Coste winery in Gradoli, Lazio region. This wine is the result of artisanal viticulture, made with traditional techniques that evoke the essence of the wines of yesteryear.
Winemaking
The grape varieties used for the production of this wine are Sangiovese, Merlot and Barbera, which are harvested between the territories of Pitigliano and Manciano. These varieties are combined to reach an alcohol content of 13.5% vol. The grapes are destemmed and then undergo spontaneous fermentation with maceration on the skins for three weeks in amphorae.
Rosso di Coccio is aged for about a year in 500-litre terracotta amphorae. These amphorae are not buried and are not treated inside. Moreover, no sulphites are added, no fining and no filtration is carried out, which guarantees a genuine wine without any intervention that would alter its taste or aroma.
Taste
Rosso de Coccio is a wine that stands out for its purity and authenticity. The choice to experiment with amphorae was born out of the curiosity of using such a significant and historical container. This choice seeks to highlight the fruity component that the magnificent soils of Tuscia already characterise in their entirety. The result is an immensely pure and genuine wine, which perfectly reflects the essence and tradition of the Lazio region.
