Description
There are wines that tell stories. Stories of patience, of roots, of tradition. Garnacha Olvidada de Aragón is one of them. It is not just a bottle, it is a nod to the past, to those old vines that many left behind, but that today shine again.
This project, led by oenologist Raúl Acha, seeks to revive Garnacha in its purest state, rescuing old vineyards that preserve the essence of this variety. The grapes come from the Ribota Valley, where vines planted in the 1940s defy time. The soil, a mixture of ferrous clay and pebbles, together with the warm continental climate, creates the perfect setting for this Garnacha to develop its character.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-October to select the best grapes. The wine is then fermented in concrete tanks at less than 25ºC, with a maceration of 17 days, respecting every nuance of the fruit. To gain structure without losing freshness, La Garnacha Olvidada de Aragón spends six months in contact with its lees, refining without haste.
Taste
The first visual impression of La Garnacha Olvidada de Aragón is a vibrant cherry red, with purplish glints that promise intensity. As you bring the glass closer, you are enveloped by a range of aromas: ripe forest fruits, a subtle hint of mocha and cocoa, as if reminiscent of its ageing time.
The palate is a different story. Soft tannins, but with presence, an enveloping body and a surprising freshness. There are wines that fill your mouth with words, and others that simply make you close your eyes and enjoy. La Garnacha Olvidada de Aragón is one of the latter: tasty, round and with that point of pleasure that only old vines can offer.
