Description
Julie Balagny Cayenne is a red wine made from the Gamay grape variety by the Julie Balagny winery in the Burgundy region, under the appellation Wine of France.
The Gamay grapes come from a small plot of 3.2 hectares that is up to 90 years old, and which is located in the hills of Fleurie in Beaujolais.
This vineyard is farmed organically using natural composting techniques and special herbal spray preparations following the astronomical calendar.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand. In the winery, whole bunches of grapes are fermented semi-carbonically in concrete vats with a delicate and gentle pressing, then pressed in a manual press, where the process is intentionally slow and delicate. Subsequently, the juices are racked into old Burgundy barrels for ageing. This wine is made without filtering and without SO2.
Ageing takes place in used Burgundy barrels, adding some structure.

Julie Balagny Cayenne is a red wine with a nose of complexity, herbal notes and fresh fruity aromas. On the palate, the medium tannins are in balance with a fine-tuned acidity and a very lush, silky texture that conveys all the character of the fruit. It is a seductive wine!
