Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I absolutely enjoyed the 2016 Teroldego Sgarzon. I appreciated the wine even more when I learned of the hardships experienced in this vintage, which saw a nasty attack of downy mildew and other fungal-related problems after extended rains. The wine is made with 100% Teroldego that has been fermented in amphorae with six months of skin contact. This vintage appears bright and juicy with lots of the primary fruit intensity (complete with blackberry and dried blueberry) that you get with this grape. Earthy or savory notes of autumnal leaves, cured meat and tilled soil appear on the close. The finish is streamlined and tight. Some 12,000 bottles were made.

Description
Foradori Teroldego Sgarzon is a wine that encapsulates the essence and diversity of the Teroldego variety. Produced in the Sgarzon vineyard, located in Campo Rotaliano, Mezzolombardo, this wine benefits from a cooler climate that brings an unusual freshness to the grapes. With an annual production of 10,000 bottles, this wine is made exclusively from Teroldego grapes grown on 2.5 hectares of alluvial, mostly sandy soil.
Winemaking
The winemaking of Foradori Teroldego Sgarzon is distinctive and meticulous. The fermentation and refining of the wine takes place in amphorae, with contact with the grape skins for eight months. This process, carried out in amphorae made of Tinajas from Villarrobledo, Spain, not only preserves, but intensifies the diversity and character of the Teroldego, offering a remarkable expression of the variability that this variety can manifest.
Taste
Foradori Teroldego Sgarzon is a celebration of freshness and complexity. This wine exhibits a bright ruby in appearance and displays a heady bouquet of fresh, wild forest fruits. Notes of black cherries, blueberries and wild plums intertwine with hints of burnt tones and clove spice. Under these aromatic layers, subtle hints of blue violets are perceived.
On the palate, the Foradori Teroldego Sgarzon offers an almost crystalline freshness, perfectly balanced with fine, dusty tannins. This taste profile is completed by a transition towards slightly bitter herbaceous flavours, which contributes to its balance and makes Foradori Teroldego Sgarzon a pure joyful drinking experience.
