Features

Description

The red wine Cascina Tavijn 68 has its origins in the hills of Monferrato in the province of Asti, Italy. This wine is a balanced blend of Barbera and Ruché, two grape varieties that give it unique characteristics. The Verrua family, who have been making wines in this region for over a century, grow these grapes organically, tending and harvesting the vines entirely by hand.

Winemaking

Once harvested, the grapes are destemmed and the whole bunches of grapes are placed in the vat to start fermentation with indigenous yeasts in fibre tanks. The grapes are macerated for two months before being pressed and then the wine is transferred to concrete, fibreglass and Slovenian oak vats where it rests for nine months before being bottled unfiltered and without the addition of sulphur.

Taste

Cascina Tavijn 68 is a wine that stands out for its liveliness and juiciness. The Barbera brings pure flavours of black and blue fruits as well as a remarkable acidity, while the Ruché provides charming aromatics that make this wine extremely attractive. On tasting, one can perceive notes of orange peel, ripe red fruits, gunpowder, smoke and a smooth mouthfeel with a slight effervescence.
Ideal for pairing with pizza with spicy sausages, onions and olives, or with beefBun Cha.
