Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2024 Buena Pinta, from a single vineyard of ungrafted vines, has very contained ripeness and no more than 12% alcohol. It has a different aromatic palette with freshness (pH of 3.45 and six grams of acidity) that transcends the conditions of the vintage. Since 2022, he removed the percentage of Garnacha is used to have, so now it's 100% Moravia Agria from granite soils, fermented with 100% full clusters in 4,500-liter oak foudres and matured in a 2,500-liter oak vats for 13 months. Aromatically, this is more different than the other reds from Monastrell and Garnacha, with an absence of fruit, with some herbal and balsamic notes, a little à la Cabernet Franc, spicy, with notes of cloves. It's nicely built and has tension. They picked the grapes early this year, and they had done a short pruning, mostly to protect the vines, which come from the largest old vineyard planted with the variety in the whole of Manchuela, which is why they purchased it. After an awkward 2023, this goes back to the usual profile. Another bargain! This will also age nicely in bottle for a decade. 4,500 bottles produced. It was bottled at the end of October 2025.

Description
Buena Pinta, an intriguing and distinctive wine, comes from the Manchuela region. This wine is a pure expression of the Moravia Agria variety, an almost forgotten grape, indigenous to the region, which stands out for its excellent acidity, especially valuable in warm climates and hot vintages. Production of Buena Pinta is limited, with only 6,000 bottles.
Winemaking
The elaboration of Buena Pinta is a careful and environmentally friendly process. Viticulture is carried out biodynamically, without soil enrichment or irrigation. The plant cover is maintained and the soil is rarely ploughed, thus preserving its structure. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in 4,500 litre French oak vats. The wine matures for seven months in these same vats before bottling without filtering or fining. This approach highlights the purity and authentic expression of the terroir.
Taste
Buena Pinta is a light, elegant red with a remarkable structure. On the nose, it presents aromas of sour cherry and dried thyme, while on the palate, the cherry comes through again, accompanied by earthy notes and a touch of chalky minerality. The well-integrated acidity and freshness are surprising, giving it an almost Atlantic character. This wine, with an alcoholic strength of 12.5%, offers a velvety texture, marked tannins and a rather Atlantic acidity, making it incredibly fresh and drinkable.
