Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The NV Brut Grand Cru Rose is mostly Pinot Noir from the 2001 vintage, with the addition of still Pinot, all of which comes from vineyards in Ambonnay. This richly-textured, expansive wine blossoms on the palate with the essence of candied cherries, sweet herbs, smoke, flowers and minerals, offering tons of depth. The weighty style should allow the wine to pair nicely with a variety of foods, and the lingering notes of sweetness on the finish suggest an optimal pairing might be with spicier dishes.

Features

Description

Champagne André Beaufort Ambonnay Grand Cru Brut Rosé is an oenological treasure that stands out among the most prestigious sparkling wines in the world. This champagne is a faithful reflection of the tradition and passion that the André Beaufort winery has cultivated over the years.

Winemaking

This champagne is a pure expression of Pinot Noir, sourced from vines around 50 years old located in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, in the Montagne de Reims region. The vines, organically and biodynamically farmed, are planted on chalky soils with an abundant presence of chalk in the subsoil. After harvesting, the grapes are macerated briefly in steel tanks using the "saignée" technique. Alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously in steel, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. Once the sparkling wine base has been produced, re-fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Méthode Champenoise. Maturation on the lees in glass lasts at least 72 months, culminating in disgorgement à la volée and subsequent Brut dosage.

Taste

Champagne Rosé André Beaufort Ambonnay Brut Grand Cru has an intense pink colour, tending towards salmon, accompanied by a subtle and elegant bubble. Its captivating aromas of red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry combine with floral perceptions of rose, iris and strawberry. Deep spicy nuances of clove and sandalwood complete the olfactory context, preluding a full, rich sip, characterised by refined minerality and infinite persistence.
