Description
Ampeleia Ampeleia, a red wine that represents the essence and pride of the estate that bears its name. Made with Cabernet Franc, a sensitive and difficult to work grape variety that only shows its qualities in the right soil. The vineyards scattered throughout the estate, on the clay-limestone soil on which Roccatederighi was built, have evolved over time.
Winemaking
Produced under the IGT Toscana Rosso appellation, this cuvée is grown under the guyot training system in a vineyard at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level and a yield of 30 hl per hectare.
In the cellar, after a light crushing, it is vatted to begin spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in the next few days with indigenous yeasts and 15% whole clusters. It then matures for 6 months in cement vats and another 6 months in oak barrels. Its first vintage was in 2002 and 15,000 bottles are produced annually.
Taste
Ampeleia presents notes of red fruit, such as cherry, blueberry and raspberry. In addition, rich aromas such as rose, balsamic vinegar; spices such as pepper and rosemary, finishing with mineral, earthy, humidity and pencil graphite notes. The palate is fresh, medium to full-bodied, with a long, lingering finish and a mineral aftertaste, which gives it an even fresher sensation.
