Description

Alphonse Mellot Sancerre Satellite is a wine that represents the excellence of the Sancerre region of France. This wine is a single varietal, composed of 100% Sauvignon Blanc, a variety that accurately reflects both terroir and varietal character. The grapes for this wine come from five parcels located in the hills of Chavignol, all with Kimmeridgian soils, which brings remarkable complexity and character to the wine.

Winemaking

The winemaking of Alphonse Mellot Sancerre Satellite focuses on organic and biodynamic practices, with deep respect for the environment and the natural expression of the vineyard. The Sauvignon Blanc vines, between 40 and 80 years old, produce low yields, resulting in an intense concentration of flavours in the grapes. The vinification process includes natural fermentation and ageing in large oak barrels, which adds complexity and texture to the wine without overshadowing its fruit character. In addition, the wine is bottled without filtration to preserve its authenticity and purity.

Taste

Alphonse Mellot Sancerre Satellite is a true representation of its origin. It is characterised by an elegant and delicately fresh bouquet, with aromas of white stone fruits and crushed stones. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, elegant, dense and lush, with a fine and persistent structure. Intense flavours of cherry and yellow plum balance harmoniously, resulting in a wine that is less powerful than its counterpart La Moussière, but equally impressive.
The finish of the wine is stimulating and grippy, revealing a structure of perfectly fine, ripe tannins. This wine is undoubtedly a beautifully balanced taste experience, ideal to enjoy now, but with an ageing potential that will allow it to express even more of its complexity in the years to come. Its flavour profile makes it ideal with oysters, prawn stew or Crottin de Chavignol cheese, enhancing its fruity character and its crystalline, iodised finish.
