Castell d'Encús is the materialization of Raül Bobet 's winemaking dream in the lands of Lleida, specifically in Pallars Jussá and under the D.O. Costers del Segre. After several years as winemaker at Bodegas Torres and simultaneously working on his joint project with Sergi Ferrer Salat in Priorat under the Ferrer Bobetbrand, Raül Bobet finally decided to create a new project that reflects his determination to produce fresh, singular, elegant wines, with a clear commitment to organic agriculture and demonstrating his knowledge of the territory, applying biodynamics and geothermal energy to do so.
Castell d'Encús has its vineyards located at an altitude of 1,000 meters, in the heart of the Pyrenees area, of great beauty and dominated by a high mountain climate, in lands surrounded by forests and with ideal orientations for the achievement of quality wines; its location is not trivial since it takes advantage of a historical site with wine presses carved into the rock that are used for the fermentation of wine, all around a hermitage of the twelfth century. The complex has almost a hundred hectares planted with Riesling, Albariño, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
Some of its most representative wines are: Ekam, the only national wine made practically 100% with Riesling that can be compared to other Central Swiss francpean wines of its breed; Taleia that transports us to a wine of Atlantic and French style; or its single varietal Syrah of perfect balance and equilibrium between fruit and mineral load, we are referring to Thalarn.
Castell d'Encús: wines of height and altitude from the hand of a non-conformist!
