Dark as a moonless night and almost opaque, the 2014 Plan'elle is pure old vine Cariñena on limestone soils, which might have helped contain the excessive ripeness found in other wines with warmer or deeper soils. The palate shows more tension and good potential, but somehow the flavors are too ripe and there are abundant dusty tannins coupled with very high alcohol. I can see the potential in the vineyards, but this certainly needs fine tuning and most probably an earlier harvest.
