Description
Matthieu Barret Côtes du Rhône Petit Ours is a young red wine made from Syrah grapes from the northern part of the Rhône Valley region in France by Matthieu Barret of the Domaine du Coulet winery.
This wine has been made from Syrah vines planted 50 years ago on fairly deep clay-limestone soils. Petit Ours is the nickname given to Matthieu Barret for several years and means 'little bear'.
These vineyards have been cultivated using certified biodynamic viticulture methods and a low-intervention process in the cellar.
Winemaking
The vineyards were farmed organically and biodynamically and after an early harvest the grapes are completely destemmed to give the wine maximum flexibility. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts lasts 2 weeks and takes place in concrete tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit.
The wine is aged for 12 months in concrete and stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled without fining and with very little sulphur added.

Matthieu Barret Côtes du Rhône Petit Ours is a young, fresh and floral red wine, characterised by a rich bouquet. On the palate it is both caressing and fresh, with a perfectly balanced structure- a delight!
