Description
Mascarello Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco Mirasole comes from the Vigna Bricco Mirasole in Castiglione Falletto (CN), in the heart of the Barolo wine-growing area. It is made from the 100% Dolcetto grape variety, a choice that reflects the Mascarello family's tradition and passion for viticulture.
The Bricco vineyard is located at an altitude of 280 metres above sea level and faces west-northwest. The soil is calcareous and clayey, composed of grey marl and brown clay of marine formation. In this vineyard, 60% is planted with Dolcetto, while the remaining 40% is Nebbiolo.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested in mid-September, ensuring optimum ripeness of the grapes. The vinification process is traditional in style, with cap fermentation submerged at a controlled temperature of selected and clarified grapes from the estate. Surprisingly, this wine does not go through oak barrels, but is stabilised in inert tanks. Its cellar life is expected to be between 5 and 8 years, and it is bottled one year after the harvest.
Taste
Mascarello Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco Mirasole is a deep ruby red wine, tending towards violet. Its aroma is vinous, strong, fruity and varietal. On the palate, it is very dry, with a characteristic bitter touch, intense, elegant, well-balanced and full of personality; it is undoubtedly a wine with character.
