Description
The story of Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Boucherottes stems from the famous Burgundian maison's commitment to the pure expression of terroir. Located at the southern end of the Beaune vineyard, bordering Pommard, the Les Boucherottes estate is distinguished by its deep loam and shallow silt loam soil, which allows the Pinot Noir to achieve a powerful expression without losing finesse. Here, where the slope favours drainage and sun exposure, Louis Jadot made a key decision: to make a cuvée entirely from this climat, opting for a patient and respectful vinification that allows the wine to speak with its own voice. With each vintage, Louis Jadot seeks to capture the tension between structure and elegance, power and freshness, in a precise and unvarnished interpretation of the terroir.
Winemaking
Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Boucherottes is made exclusively from Pinot Noir, harvested by hand. After a total destemming, fermentation takes place in open vats for about four weeks, allowing a long and delicate maceration that favours a subtle extraction of tannins and aromas. After devatting, the wine is transferred to oak barrels - about one third new - where it is aged for 18 months in the maison's historic cellars. This ageing adds complexity without masking the mineral and sober character of the vineyard. Bottling is carried out without aggressive filtration, preserving the structure and longevity of the wine.
Taste
Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Boucherottes offers a sensory profile of precision and depth. On the nose, notes of black cherry, ripe raspberry and red plum unfold, intertwined with earthy echoes, dried leaf, undergrowth and a delicate touch of toasty oak. The palate is enveloping and firm, with silky but present tannins, vibrant acidity and a juicy texture that holds the wine in the mouth. The finish is long, with hints of mild spice, violet blossom, graphite and fresh red fruit. A Premier Cru Burgundy with structure, balance and ageing capacity, perfect for those who appreciate Pinot Noir at its most serious and elegant.
