Description

In the heart of Valliguières, in the French Gard, a young visionary named Lori Haon discovered a forgotten 20-hectare vineyard in 2016. While finishing her oenology studies in Alsace, she came across the site through an advertisement on Leboncoin. With determination, he rescued centuries-old Cariñena and Garnacha vines that were hidden in the undergrowth. Today, under the name of Domaine du Petit Oratoire, Lori cultivates her vines according to Demeter-certified biodynamic principles, allowing nature to express itself without artificial intervention.

Winemaking

Le Petit Oratoire Tavel is a tribute to the traditional methods of the region. Made from a blend of red varieties, including Syrah, Garnacha and Mourvèdre, from century-old co-planted vines, this wine captures the essence of the Tavel terroir. The grapes are subjected to different vinification methods depending on the variety, such as carbonic maceration and direct pressing, to extract the best from each variety. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks, without fining or filtering, and with minimal addition of sulphites, respecting the purity of the wine.

Taste

Le Petit Oratoire Tavel is reminiscent of those made in days gone by, offering a full and mature experience. On the nose, it displays intense aromas of ripe red fruits, such as strawberries and raspberries, accompanied by subtle herbal and mineral notes. The palate is rich and generous, with a balanced freshness that invites further tasting. The structure is robust but elegant, with soft tannins and a lively acidity that adds length and persistence to the finish. Perfect for pairing with Mediterranean dishes, from a burrata salad to a sourdough pizza with tomato and basil, this Tavel is proof that great rosés can be as memorable as the best reds.
