Description

The La Maison Romane Bourgogne project was born out of a desire to return to the origins. Its creator, Oronce de Beler, passionate about the subtlest Burgundy, decided to make wines that spoke of the soil rather than the fruit. With Pinot Noir vines grown on small plots in the Côte Chalonnaise and Côte de Beaune, many on forgotten hillsides where the limestone peeks through the clay, the philosophy is clear: minimum intervention, maximum expression of the terroir. After a severe frost in his early years, he chose not to replant what was lost, preferring less production rather than lose authenticity. This decision marked its character and the profile of the wine: sober, pure and deeply Burgundian.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand, with rigorous selection in the vineyard and in the cellar. A cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out, followed by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in small stainless steel tanks. Extraction is very delicate, with only gentle pumping over. After malolactic fermentation, La Maison Romane Bourgogne is aged in French oak barrels, mostly used, for 15-18 months. Unclarified and unfiltered, it is bottled respecting its raw identity, with sediment that speaks of its origin.

Taste

To the eye, it is light ruby-red, bright. On the nose, La Maison Romane Bourgogne opens slowly with notes of sour cherry, wild strawberry and dried leaves. Subtle hints of black tea, damp earth and an almost chalky mineral background appear. There is no exuberance, but a restrained, elegant fragrance of discreet maturity. The palate is delicate but firm, with lively acidity that structures and very fine, almost ethereal tannins. The red fruit remains in an austere profile, with a touch of plum and an echo of liquorice and undergrowth. The finish is long, dry, with a texture reminiscent of wet gypsum. Ideal for those seeking precision, finesse and the naked truth of Burgundian Pinot Noir.
