Description
La Bruja de Rozas is an exceptional wine that emerges from the mountainous region of Sierra de Gredos, near Madrid. This wine is the result of the effort and passion of Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia, who started their project, Comando G, in 2008. La Bruja de Rozas is a wine that redefines Garnacha, a variety traditionally considered a workhorse, taking it to a level of elegance and finesse comparable to Pinot from Burgundy or Syrah from the northern Rhône.
Winemaking
Made exclusively from Garnacha, La Bruja de Rozas comes from vineyards located at an altitude of 900 metres, with vines that are between 50 and 80 years old. These vineyards are planted on sandy soils derived from granite, slate and quartz, and are cultivated following biodynamic farming practices. The combination of high altitude, free draining soils and a moderately humid microclimate guarantees a long growing season and a moderate alcohol level in the final wine.
The elaboration of La Bruja de Rozas involves a manual harvest, fermentation with natural yeasts in open French oak vats, and a prolonged maceration of 40 to 60 days. Subsequently, the wine is aged for nine months in 15 to 60 hectolitre oak vats.
Taste
La Bruja de Rozas stands out for being extraordinarily aromatic and intensely flavoursome. This wine is remarkably pale, but still perfumed and lively, with plenty of fruit, a backbone of acidity and fine tannins. La Bruja de Rozas is a wine that embodies the purity of Garnacha, offering a taste experience that perfectly balances fruit, acidity and finesse.
