Description
In the early 1970s, when Cava was still searching for its place in the world, Juvé & Camps had a bold vision: to create a sparkling wine without added sugar that would express the purity of the character of the Penedès region. Thus Juvé & Camps Reserva de la Familia Brut Nature Gran Reserva was born, first as a wine for intimate celebrations and later as the emblem of the house. Its essence comes from the free-run must -the first and most delicate fraction of the pressing- from their own vineyards in Espiells, La Cuscona and Mediona, enclaves marked by chalky soils, Mediterranean breezes and an altitude that favours freshness. The traditional Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada varieties are grown with the sole aim of letting the terroir speak.
Winemaking
Juvé & Camps Reserva de la Familia Brut Nature Gran Reserva is made by hand harvesting and vinification by parcels, which allows the personality of each area to be preserved. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the second fermentation takes place in the bottle following the traditional method, with an average ageing of 36 months on its lees. During this time, the wine develops a remarkable aromatic complexity without losing its natural freshness. Disgorgement is carried out without the addition of expedition liqueur, reaffirming its identity as a Brut Nature, honest and precise.
Taste
Pale golden yellow in colour with fine, persistent bubbles, Juvé & Camps Reserva de la Familia Brut Nature Gran Reserva displays a clean, elegant nose: fresh apple, white pear and wild flowers, with a subtle background of rosemary, fennel and toast. With oxygenation, notes of raw almond, fine yeast and brioche emerge. On the palate, its texture is creamy but tightened by a vibrant citric acidity, which lengthens the passage and cleanses the palate. The finish is dry, long, with echoes of ripe white fruits and nuts, all enveloped in a delicate mineral salinity.
