Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I found very strong and pungent aromas of tempera paint, licorice, fountain pen ink and singed leather on the nose of the 2017 Imagine, the pure Garnacha from the local strain they call Giró. The original vineyard used for this wine was giving very low yields, and they were getting no more than 200 kilos of grapes, which made it unviable; plus, they found the wine was getting too concentrated for their liking. So, they found a slightly lower and larger plot planted in 1954 on similar limestone marl soils and produced 2,540 bottles of this 2017, the first since 2014. Unfortunately, the fresh, floral and elegant style was marred by those aromas that made a comeback on the palate, which also had an earthy twist and a dry finish. I'm sure others will like it, love it in fact, but I just couldn't get past those notes... It was bottled in October 2018.
