Description

Iago's Wine Chinuri Chardakhi Maceration is an orange wine from the wine region of Georgia. This wine is an authentic representation of the ancient winemaking techniques of the region, where wine has been produced for thousands of years.

Winemaking

This wine ferments spontaneously and ages with the skins in qvevri for six months. The only intervention in the process is a pinch of sulphur, bringing the total sulphur content to 28 mg/litre. Iago explains that "if the whole vinification process proceeds in a natural way, you get a better wine". It is a young qvevri wine, still very closed on the nose, but with notes of kiwi and green apple.

Taste

Iago's Wine Chinuri Chardakhi Maceration has an intense and honest aromatic profile. On the nose, it displays notes of apricot and banana at their ripest, complemented by hints of candied orange, dried fruit, hay, dried chamomile, dried thymus, clay and a sweet touch of chestnut honey. On the palate, it is somewhat angular, lacking a certain smoothness and presenting a somewhat weak structure. Despite this, its freshness is palpable, with a slight touch of tannin, showing persistence and ripeness on the finish.
