Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 El Sequé was produced with the grapes from the 38 hectares of Monastrell they have in the village of Pinoso, mostly around the winery, where there is more clay that produces more fruit-driven wines. It fermented in stainless steel, went through malolactic in barrel and matured in used 500-liter French oak demi-muids and 2,500-liter foudres for six months, so there's no oak influence whatsoever. It's ripe, reflecting the dry vintage, and grapey, with notes of ripe berry fruit and aromas of Mediterranean aromatic herbs like esparto grass, with more finesse. It's medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins and is approachable and elegant. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.53 and 5.1 grams of acidity. 31,288 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2025.
