Description
Carmelo Rodero TSM is an emblematic wine of the Bodega Rodero winery, the result of a family passion and decades of dedication in the heart of Ribera del Duero. Made mostly from 75% Tempranillo (or Tinta del País), complemented with 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, it represents the essence of the best wines of the region. The vineyards, located at an altitude between 842 and 875 metres, are planted in a trellis and goblet system on sandy soils, with clay and a calcareous base. With an average age of 40 to 45 years, these vines of great character offer a grape that captures the minerality of the soil and the freshness of the heights.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and selected in the vineyard to ensure that the best fruit is rigorously picked and then vinified using a patented gravity-fed vinification system. The ageing of Carmelo Rodero TSM is meticulous: the wine rests for 17 months in new French oak barrels, which adds complexity and structure.
Taste
Carmelo Rodero TSM has a deep garnet red colour, almost hypnotic. On the nose, it displays a unique complexity, with layers of prunes, toasty notes and hints of spice. After some time in the glass, aromas of balsamic and roasted nuances emerge, intertwined in an aromatic range that only aged wines can offer. On the palate, it is fleshy and powerful, with an enveloping texture and a balance that denotes its careful elaboration. Notes of vanilla, caramel and ripe black fruit give a pleasant and complex sensation on the palate, accompanied by a well-integrated acidity. The finish is long and lingering, a memorable echo that invites another glass.
