Description

Barranco Oscuro Salvaje Blanco is an exceptional wine from the region of La Contraviesa, in Granada, Spain. Produced by the Barranco Oscuro winery, this white wine is an authentic expression of its terroir. The grapes used are of the Sauvignon Blanc variety, planted in 1986 in two different plots. One of them is located in El Cerro de Las Monjas, with slate schist soils at 1330 metres above sea level. The other plot is located in several plots in Barranco Oscuro at 1300 metres above sea level, on clay soils.

Elaboration

The winemaking process of Barranco Oscuro Salvaje Blanco begins with the manual harvest and destemming of the grapes, followed by direct pressing. Fermentation is spontaneous, carried out in stainless steel tanks without temperature control in a cool cellar. The wine is racked after one month and aged for one year in used oak barrels. Before bottling, the wine is lightly filtered without fining.

Taste

Barranco Oscuro Salvaje Blanco has a complex and attractive sensory profile. On the nose, intense, floral notes stand out, accompanied by hints of citrus and cider. Golden apple and balsamic nuances are also present, offering a rich and diverse aromatic experience. On the palate, the wine is fresh and wild, with considerable volume and a fat texture that adds body. The minerality is notable, reflecting the characteristics of the soil where the grapes are grown. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a lasting impression that invites further tasting. This wine is an excellent choice for those looking for a unique winemaking experience, full of nuances and character.
