Description
Alaya Tierra is a single varietal wine made exclusively from Garnacha Tintorera, a red variety characterised by its intensity and deep colour. This wine comes from old vineyards located in the Almansa region, at an altitude of approximately 1,000 metres above sea level. These vineyards, more than 40 years old, are planted in limestone soils, poor in nutrients, which limits the yield of the vines to between 1,500 and 2,000 kilograms per hectare, favouring a higher concentration in the grapes. The continental climate, with rainfall of less than 350 mm per year, contributes to the uniqueness of this wine.
Winemaking
The winemaking process begins with maceration and fermentation in stainless steel vats at a maximum temperature of 25ºC. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to new French and American oak barrels, where it remains for 15 months. This careful ageing process adds complexity and elegance to the wine, while preserving its fruity power.
Taste
Alaya Tierra stands out for its opaque black colour and its powerful aromatic bouquet, where ripe black fruits combine with the notes of the barrel. On the palate, it is a full and enveloping wine, with a silky texture that conceals its high alcohol content of 15%. Its well-balanced acidity and long, lingering finish, with a characteristic sweet touch, make it ideal for pairing with game meats, stews, mushrooms and honeyed rice dishes.
