Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A blend of 85% Grenache and the rest of Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre, the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Télégramme offers up aromas of flowers, dark cherries and dark wild berries, followed by a medium to full-bodied, structured and concentrated palate with velvety tannins and a long, dense finish. More austere than previous vintages, this iteration stands out as a commendable rendition within the context of the vintage.

Winemaking
Fermented in concrete vats for 25-30 days. Aged for 16 months in French oak foudres of 30 and 60 hectolitres. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Subsequently, it remains in the bottle for 18 months before being released onto the market.
Description
In the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Brunier family - after more than a century cultivating vines on the mythical plateau of La Crau - decided to create a wine that would capture the essence of the place without having to wait decades. Thus was born Télégramme Châteauneuf du Pape, a label that does not seek to replicate the complexity of its big brother, Vieux Télégraphe, but rather to offer a more accessible, juicier and earlier version of the southern Rhône. Made with grapes from young vineyards (though on average 40 years old) and plots outside La Crau and Piedlong, this Vieux Télégraphe embodies a more direct vision of the terroir. The classic southern blend - 80% Garnacha Tinta, 10% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and 4% Cinsault - allows the wine to express itself with softness, freshness and a generosity of fruit that makes it particularly seductive in its youth.
Winemaking
The grapes for Télégramme Châteauneuf du Pape are harvested by hand, with a triple selection (in the vineyard and in the cellar), followed by a complete destemming. Traditional fermentation, lasting 25 to 30 days, takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving the purity of the fruit. This is followed by pneumatic pressing and complete malolactic fermentation, which softens the texture of the wine. Ageing lasts 15 to 16 months in large French oak vats of 30 to 60 hectolitres. The wine is bottled without fining or filtering, preserving all its natural expression.
Taste
Télégramme Châteauneuf du Pape opens with generous aromatics of black cherry, ripe raspberry and soft hints of liquorice and white pepper. The nose also displays notes of garrigue, dried lavender and an earthy background reminiscent of the Provençal landscape. The palate is round, with fine tannins, silky texture and a lovely balance between juicy fruit and lively acidity. The Garnacha dominates with warmth and friendliness, while the Syrah and Mourvèdre add structure and depth. The finish is long, spicy and slightly saline, with echoes of candied red fruit and mountain herbs. A vibrant, expressive and honest wine, ideal to enjoy in its early years, but with enough character to evolve gracefully.
