Description
Tomás Postigo 3er Año is a red wine produced in the prestigious Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. Created by the Bodega Tomás Postigo winery, founded in 2008 and directed by one of the region's most renowned winemakers, who arrived in the Ribera in 1984. This wine is composed of a blend of Tinto Fino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec, obtained from vineyards located between 750 and 1,000 metres above sea level, which provides optimum ripening and unique characteristics to the grapes.
The soils where these varieties grow are chalky, sandy-loam and pebbly, and benefited from a favourable climate, with spring rains and a moderate summer that helped the tannins to develop perfectly. The grapes were harvested by hand, starting at the end of September with the harvest of the Malbec.
Winemaking
Tomás Postigo 3er Año is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels of different origins, which adds complexity and elegance to the final result. At the end of this process, 56 different wines are produced depending on the origin of the grapes and the barrels, creating the perfect blend at the bottling stage.
Taste
Tomás Postigo 3er Año has a cherry red colour with purple hues. The nose is exuberant, with aromas of ripe black fruit, subtle hints of red fruits, milky notes and elegant traces of toasted wood and spices. On the palate, it is a tasty and rounded wine, with balanced acidity and well-integrated tannins.
