Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The white 2023 Redoma Reserva Branco unfurls layers of added complexity tasted next to the Redoma Branco from this same vintage. They use older vines for this, a selection of vineyards from the zone of Murça, a sort of premier cru if you like. It fermented and matured in used and slightly younger barrels for nine months. It comes in at 12.5% alcohol and is spicy, floral and herbal, with notes of green tea and pollen, a smoky twist and a balanced and streamlined palate with fine minerality, fine-grained and with a dry, tasty finish. There are 35,000+ bottles, the biggest crop ever. It was bottled in July 2024.

Description
Dirk Niepoort 's Redoma Reserva Branco wine is rooted in vineyards located at altitudes between 400 and 800 metres, which provides cooler growing conditions, especially at night, and longer ripening times. These conditions are essential to achieve the natural acidity and freshness that characterise this wine. It should be noted that all these vineyards have vines over 60 years old, and some vineyards have vines that are over 100 years old. The main grape variety is Rabigato, although there is also a high proportion of Códega.
Winemaking
After a strict selection in the vineyard, the grapes are destemmed and pressed without maceration. After a natural decanting process at low temperature, fermentation takes place in French oak barrels. The wine remains in these barrels with its lees for 8 to 9 months, without malolactic fermentation, in order to maintain its natural freshness. The Reserva is made from specially selected barrels that contain the most concentrated, fresh and complex wine.
Taste
Redoma Reserva Branco stands out for its fruity and concentrated nose, with citrus and tropical notes, a fine mineral and toasted character. On the palate, it presents a smooth and full texture, with an abundance of white fruit flavours and mineral nuances. Its crisp acidity and finesse are complemented by a long, beautifully delineated finish, suggesting great ageing potential.
