Description
On the cool slopes of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, where the Atlantic winds brush against the old vines, Murmuron was born as a declaration of principles: to show Tempranillo in its purest and most expressive form. Instead of overloading it with ageing or artifice, the Eguren family opted for immediacy, naked fruit, youth with nerve. Sourced from their own vineyards planted in clay-limestone soils with gravel and boulders in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa, Murmuron captures the vibrant energy of the Atlantic climate, with warm days and cool nights that impart tension and character. Here, tradition does not weigh: it inspires.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand to select the healthiest and most expressive bunches. The grapes are gently destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Maceration is brief but intense, extracting colour and fruit without seeking excesses. The aim is to capture the primary soul of Tempranillo, its freshness and liveliness. Murmuron is not aged in wood: only a few months of refining in tanks before bottling, to preserve its juicy and direct character. A wine that arrives on the market ready to drink, without any make-up.
Taste
Murmuron has a bright purplish red colour, almost electric. On the nose, a burst of fresh red fruit: crisp cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, with a subtle background of liquorice and blue flower. The palate is pure dynamism: juicy, agile, with silky tannins and an acidity that pushes it forward. There is no unnecessary weight, just lively fruit, freshness and balance. Ideal for those looking for a young red with the soul of a vineyard, perfect for drinking lightly chilled, without rules or labels. This is Murmuron: a whisper of authenticity amidst the noise.
